Been quiet around here in all sections.

I was too slow to paint the kenco and it rusted up. Recut it in stainless and painted it. Found some super thin .15mm THK M1.6 washers for assembly....

18-22 GA 1008 cold rolled as first choice or A36 pickled and oiled.


I should have some scrap suitable for cutting a weld to see penetration. Try and get some results over the weekend.

As a side note:
carbon steel welds turn out great and are super easy. 18ga at 75 Watt-seconds is pretty strong and looks nice. A little bit more penetration would be nice.
Brass is very sooty/ugly...

Sunstone says the default ignition retracts the electrode at the same time the arc fires. There is an option to have the arc fire after the electrode has retracted. The final setting is "pre heat"...

I drew out the path and also where it could be getting lost. The guide groove is inside the bore which is 4.5mm. Difficult to even see if the contours are well formed by lost wax casting.

Thanks Egronvold.

Time to step away from the ZX and tackle the barrier lift mechanism. The full scale looks to operate with a bi-stable latch which allows the jaws to engage every second plunge....

I started by looking for something off the shelf. Best option I saw was for drone/multicopter. Those were not quite right, but workable.

Decided I'm going to rewind the GB2208 gimbal motor for use on the slew. I've done that a few times before on RC crawlers. Would like to increase the current quite a bit too. Lots of trial and error...
