Re: Micro TIG welders

I was just doing some poking around to find some appropriate welding coupons. About all I can find in sheet metal are 20ga coupons which are about 0.036", close enough to 0.9mm. What are y'all...

Re: Micro TIG welders

That's what I was thinking. It's supposed to get here next week, I just MIGHT have to see where I can round up some test coupons and try it.

I know when he welded the 0.4mm and 0.6mm test welds...

Re: Micro TIG welders

I may be an idiot, but I pulled the trigger on an Andeli 250PL last night. I know it's way more than the other options I was looking at. But, if I'm right, it'll allow me to replace my full-sized...

Re: Micro TIG welders

Blender:

No doubt the welds look pretty, I doubt that they'd hold up to the typical clamp it in a vise and beat it back and forth with a hammer to see if the weld's stronger than the base metal...

Re: Micro TIG welders

Blender:

What gage aluminum were you trying to weld? Lack of penetration seems to be typical with these little welders, but then they are designed to weld REALLY itty-bitty stuff.

I watched a...

Shawn:

After watching several of the videos for the Orion/Sunstone/Lampert type of welder, including a couple taken at ultra-high frame rates, the arc doesn't always occur. When it does occur,...

agriRC:

Any updates? I know how it can be with some projects getting back-burnered. I've got several sitting on the back of the stove myself.

Shawn:

Once I was finally able to convince Google Translate to actually TRANSLATE, I went through that thread. That welder appears to be much better than the Sparkle welder, but then it's almost...

Re: Nylint michigan crane conversion, hopefully

I've got the WPL "Off-road" tires and a dual set-up. I'll take some pictures and get some measurements tonight. They LOOK more like super-singles, but since I don't have any standard tires, I don't...

Re: Micro TIG welders

I know the Orion and Sunstone welders are the best, but I'm NOT gonna spend that much on a welder for my hobby. I've seen TIG jewelry welders on Amazon and Ebay for a couple hundred bucks with the...

Frizzen:

I've got a set of WPL plastic axles that I bought to see if they'd look right under a Bruder, along with the aluminum wheels and the tires. They were too small, a 5-6mm difference in OD...

Frizzen:

My multi-color paint job for the wheel is going to look OK, and so far without masking. I started out with a 1/0 brush, then went to a 3/0, and finally the 5/0 seemed to work the best...

Re: RC Benchy

It's the first paint job that I've done in more years than I care to remember, so it's got some warts. Being the cheap-skate that I am, I didn't want pay 10 bucks for 250ml of thinner that is...

OK, the pictures didn't take as long to re-size as I thought they would. Of course the fact that I could only use 2 of them might have had something to do with that (SOMEBODY shakes too damned much...

Benchy is mostly painted and assembled, no pictures yet so I guess that didn't happen.

BUT... Mario definitely needs his Kodachrome....

Re: RC Benchy

Nope, the guns are already printed and painted. I've got to get a couple more coats of grey on the deck before it can be assembled and the turrets bolted down.

I have two turret mounted guns, one...

Re: Fully 3D printed John Deere 1/10 scratch build

Yup, it sucks when life gets in the road of the really important stuff. The nice thing about this hobby is it mostly keeps you off the streets and out of trouble - well off the streets anyway.

Re: RC Benchy

My back yard is a park. That park is next to what I think used to be a mill pond of some sort on the river. So yeah - I got a place to try it out. I used to run my Seaport/Harbor tug conversion...

Faster than a slow boat from China?

Don't know yet, I don't want too much speed, he is a heavily armed TUGBOAT after all. He's got more of a high speed prop now. I'm pretty sure it's not what...

Re: Cockshutt 70 tractor (1935-48)

That Cockshutt must have one HELLUVA exhaust leak. Every time I forgot to take the can off the muffler of a tractor, it got blown off when the engine fired up.

I got a little more work done on Benchy, he's VERY monochromatic right now. Apparently he didn't get the memo that the Great White Fleet sailed YEARS ago....
