Yes, if i had a larger printer some parts would not need to be cut up, so would mean less parts, but the same amount of time. There are few things i would change in the design if i made another one....

You should try autodesk 123d design. It's an easy program to help get started in designing your own stuff.. It's what I use, practice, practice, practice. 😄

Thanks Mario, I haven't finished the detailing yet but did forget about the red accent. I will def add that. The idler tubes needed to not be painted in order to function, i agree it looks cool.

Yes I definitely primed everything with Rustoleum Self Etching primer. After doing some scratch tests on ABS, i found the Self Etch Primer held up the best. But Krylon primer Ive used many times...

Your right, This is about as cheap as you can build a dozer from scratch? ...And mine has limited function, just blade up n down, and track movement....

Quick update.

Almost have all the parts finished. Slowely getting there. Just waiting on some hardware and will start assembling. Blade is filled with lead to give it some weight and blade tilt...

Alex, That truck was a 93. N14 mechanical motor, 9 spd. Was a good truck, sank alot of money into it, but you know how that goes :)

Joe, each side of the undercarriage is almost 2 lbs, So im estimating the total built weight should be near 12-15 lbs. A tad over what i figured scale weight to be, 9.1 lbs..If i figured correctly.

ABS i use is about 30$ lbs. Maybe about 500.00 which is mostly electronics, not including the ripper parts, which is not designed yet.

Neil, Thats basically what i was thinking. Thanks for the link to Steves build. I was thinking instead a ring and pinion deal like he did, using opposed gear motors in the axles like on a Stahl wheel...
