Nice work Alan, it is looking good.

i use the right stick for drive and the the left stick (throttle channel) is used for the lift without a spring loaded center so that you can leave the lift up...

i used metric screws, tamiya semi truck hardware, modified tamiya high lift springs, aluminum U channel, aluminum angle stock.

Yes, there is a brass sleeve glued into the plastic wheel to provide a hard/solid surface for the axle to sit in.

Jim,
You could always use the control board out of a cheap but powerful servo to use as a speed controller with smooth forward to reverse action.

You would have to add resisters to the servo...
