I got an idea for you why not just dig up your lawn where your roadway is and replace it with some cold patch what they use to fill in pot holes on the highways then you can paint some lines...

I hear that the hinge's used on cigar boxes work reallt well. As far as holding down the hood try maybe using some velcro. That is how i hold some of my bodies down.
