Re: My first semi build thread

Good info to have since I do want to get and/or build a dump trailer. I haven't really decided on a particular mfu or esc yet. I'm also thinking about getting a 9 channel radio for this truck and...

Re: My first semi build thread

Thank you, Sir
It sounds like you have quite a debacle on your hands and changing, building and creating is the best part about this hobby. For the fifth wheel I'm going with the braided steel wire...

Re: My first semi build thread

Thanks. Yea I agree with the length, I really like it and the turn radius isn't too bad either.

I started building the interior of the sleeper today as I don't have much else to work on. I also am...

Re: My first semi build thread

Starting to look road worthy. Mounted the bumper nut not finished with wiring the 32 leds on it yet, I'm going to need a larger battery for all the lights that will be on this rolling Christmas Tree....

Re: bigfords trucks

That's a ridiculously long trailer, I love it! I'm pretty sure I saw the video on YouTube yesterday. Looks like a geometric nightmare trying traverse corners.

Re: My first semi build thread

I had some black ABS plastic laying around so I made a leafspring mount to pull the axle forward a smidgen.

Re: My first semi build thread

Oh alright gotcha! Yes I am aware of that disconnection of the red wire is a must when plugged into the rx. Double the voltage isn't always double the fun. I do however have an rx solely for testing...

Re: My first semi build thread

With that being said about the rod operated fifth wheel, I'm definitely going to use a steel wire for a servo operated hook. I can see how that would be a problem with a rod as you've experienced....

Re: My first semi build thread

I'm glad you brought that up Backlash. That's is one of those things you don't think about until it's too late. A steel leader would work and look like it belongs also. Thanks!

Re: My first semi build thread

That does look like a pain getting the bends set correctly but we'll worth the look of lack of visible servo components.

Re: My first semi build thread

Oh alright, I appreciate it. I'll have a look for them. Haven't used eBay in a few years since I've discovered Amazon prime lol. It looks that eBay has a bunch of stuff for these trucks.

Re: My first semi build thread

Pretty creative engineering right there. That's exactly the placement of the servo I was hoping to achieve.

Re: My first semi build thread

Ha, I was just thinking about using a mini servo under the mount today. Glad to know that it is possible to have a cleaner look, thanks Tracy for showing that to me, I will definitely use that.

Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.

You might be able to solder it , I wouldn't write it off so soon if you don't want to let it go.

Re: My first semi build thread

Are your covers screwed down or held on by other means? I thinking of using scale bolts.

Just dropped the sleeper roof. Need to smooth it out now....

Re: My first semi build thread

Adding a chassis cover to hide all the wiring, plus it'll look cleaner.

Re: My first semi build thread

I'm planning on using Arctic White as an accent on the body it should be pretty sharp looking at the end.

Yea, definitely would need it on a separate channel than the actual horn but it'll be left...

Re: My first semi build thread

Hahaha maybe I should have a Barney soundboard for the horn! A Barney chuckle for a horn would be priceless. I'm almost at the stopping point until I get some fenders to start working on the cab....
