The wider steer tires are called "High Flotation" tires - for severe off road work. They aren't as wide as a super single.
Tamiya's "super single" tires are not really wide enough for real super...

The R/C truck market in the USA is not nearly as big as the european market...
Just look at all of the fantastic shows put on in europe vs. what we have here in the States.
