Re: Sherman 1/16

I know the cartoon was always "Kilroy was here", but one of those really needs to say "Kilroy is here".

Re: Sherman "Calliope"

That's a nice looking Sherman with a Clalliope mounted on it.

It was my understanding the the Calliope only used the gun barrel for support, they couldn't elevate the Calliope by lifting the...

Re: 1/10 caterpillar 140h motor grader 3d printed

I didn't realize that front beam was that thick, a piece of 3/4" ply glued in there will do wonders for its' strength.

I was thinking that the beam was thinner and maybe had a piece of aluminum...

Re: 1/10 caterpillar 140h motor grader 3d printed

It looks like you've got aluminum extrusions for the frame rails under the engine. Is there anything extra in the beam that supports the blade and the front wheels? Or did you print it with extra...

Re: 1/10 caterpillar 140h motor grader 3d printed

I see that now, I was thinking that maybe you were planning on running the wires through the fake hydraulic hoses.

Looking good!

Are you going to use your regular powered ram design for the hydraulic cylinders?

Re: Hercules flatbed trailer with skids of drywall

Fury Fan:

The terminal that you got from McMaster-Carr is called a PCB Terminal Tab. It's a rivet mount, that's why it's got the big hole. If you just Google "pcb terminal tab" you'll probably...

Looks good, what printer are you printing the parts on, and with what?

Re: Michigan T-24 project

The outriggers might not need to be powered, just pull out and crank down? But they definitely need to be functional and not just a pad resting on the ground. Otherwise things could get a little...

Re: Hercules flatbed trailer with skids of drywall

You're just using the CA to tack things while the Aleene's dries, the Aleene's is flexible.

Are you annealing the CNC'd parts before you try bending them? Copper and brass will work harden, that...

Re: VW Van 1/16

Oh man.... I gotta get me one of them.

That's what the first car I ever owned would have looked like when it was new. Not when I got it mind you, but when it was new. I got mine for $50 in 1974...

Re: Michigan T-24 project

Using two different flavors of batteries you'll have different discharge curves. I think you'll need to tie the commons (-) of both battery packs together so all of the electronics will have the...

Re: Hercules flatbed trailer with skids of drywall

A fabric glue such as Aleene's Tacky glue might an option for the straps. It won't be as fast since it takes a while to dry, but it also won't try to curl up like the heat shrink does. You could...

Re: Michigan T-24 project

Fuel tubing is do-able as a spring, but it's a lot stiffer lengthwise than you might think. When I built the rotary valve for my dust collector I was using springs 3-4mm in diameter to keep the...

I know the feeling well, half the time even I can't read my own handwriting. Thank God for computers and printers.

I think that every article I've ever read about figure painting has mentioned the difficulty of getting the eyes "right".

Re: Hercules flatbed trailer with skids of drywall

Over on RC Groups a guy built a stand-off scale model of a JU-52, the German Tri-motor from the 30's with the corrugated skin. He used an inkjet printer and printed the corrugations on his covering...

Re: Hercules flatbed trailer with skids of drywall

You think wiring is a pain in this scale, check this out:

What gage wire are you using? When using LED's, they have a small enough load...

I see it too.

Re: 1/10 Caterpillar D8T Build (3D Printed)

I can see I'm going to have to crack the whip on my printers and not accept any more shoddy work from them.

I normally print at a 0.25mm layer height but I have printed a couple of prints at...

Re: 1/10 Caterpillar D8T Build (3D Printed)

At first glance I thought those were resin printed parts, and thought that you'd gotten a resin printer. Then I zoomed in on them and saw the layer lines from a filament printer. That's some damned...

Re: A REALLY small RC tractor-trailer

They probably wouldn't want to take the chance of you damaging their "scenery". Now maybe if you built a working street sweeper... You could pass it off as site maintenance, maybe even get an...
