Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Cooper-If I were doing this I would simplify the tread pattern. In this picture the mold would have some very thin sections and if prepped correctly and waxed properly it might work but if it sticks...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Steve-not this time. I have been trying for 2-years to plan a trip up to see him but something always gets in the way. I still plan to make it though.

Re: Cat 777 questions on build

Cooper-I'm sure you have found this out by now but tires are the hard part on this type of build. That is why I made my tires when I built this model. My scale was a lot smaller but I think I got the...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Steve-I think going to Dragline World with some equipment is an excellent idea!! I talk with him 2-3 times a week and he seems to be lonely and is disappointed that no one is coming to D.W. any more....

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Steve-that picture of the retired operator in the seat just makes the point of what a great idea this is. Most old ex-operators probably want nothing to do with a tiny radio with levers, switches and...

Re: LilGiantsConstrCO

Your making good progress joe-A hydraulic front shovel would work good against that wall but your hoe is doing a fine job. The water line that you mentioned. Will it interfere with the tunnel? Also,...

Re: LilGiantsConstrCO

Hi joe-it is amazing that all the people that are chosen to write stories on this type of work do not have a clue about what is really going on. I laugh each time I read an article about "the crazy...

Re: Crawler Track Build - American HC230

Pricer-I just noticed you are in mobile Al. I am just up the road a few hundred miles in north Al. Unless you just want a challenge, why don't you consider re-designing your tumblers. I don't know...

Re: Crawler Track Build - American HC230

Pricer-the blue mold you have pictured for your track pads looks simple enough and should work just fine. The tumbler is the nightmare to me. I would not ever try to cast a part like that. And yes,...

Re: Crawler Track Build - American HC230

Pricer-starting at post #16 I can see the pictures but nothing before that. I am not familiar with alumilite. I am not understanding the mold you have pictured. That is a very complex part. Can you...

Re: Crawler Track Build - American HC230

Pricer-I cannot see the pictures you have posted. You may need to use Photobucket. It is a free hosting site. Here is a filler that will do the job for you when casting parts-...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

That doesn't sound like much fun steve. I think I would have a problem with strong springs but I still think this is a good idea. Jim told me he got a radio but I agree, he is totally lost. I...

Re: Crawler Track Build - American HC230

Pricer-this is a unique idea for tumblers but I don't think it would work cast from resin because of the size of your round bars. They probably would break. I cast some track pads from epoxy resin...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Steve-I guess that really did take some time to get the feel. Do you find it easier to operate the hand controls when using the foot pedals. It seems like you could concentrate more on hoisting and...

Re: LilGiantsConstrCO

Looks like your work is progressing nicely joe-I thought the brushless motors were a little more dependable than the brushed motors. Did you have a lot of hours on it?

Re: Dragline Crawler Build

Thanks jim-interesting video. The blocks looked like they were almost too heavy for the clam but you got it done. Nice operator work! Smooth and steady is always the best. Personally I like the drag...

Re: Dragline Crawler Build

Nice video jim-that operator is getting good!!!! I personally would like to see a few minutes of the clamshell working at actual speed. Did you not make it to Brownsville?

Re: LilGiantsConstrCO

Joe-I like that panoramic picture. Your north & south etc. directions is what gets me confused but that's okay. I will just watch your progress and I am sure you have it planned out perfectly. Could...

Re: Dragline Crawler Build

Looks like some tough digging jim but the machine handled it really good. The model looks to be balanced well, do you have any ballast in the back end.

Re: D11 New Project

titandigs-It doesn't matter how long it takes. The final results are what's most important. The dozer looks great and seems to work well. Nice work!!

Re: LilGiantsConstrCO

Hi joe-another great project. This should be fun to watch!! I'm not real clear on how the direction and lay-out of the tunnel will be but I am sure it will become clear as you get into it. You said...

Re: Progress Thread - 8750 Marion Dragline

I find it a little strange that you decided to build the boom first, but it's your build and your rules. You said you were not going to build by a scale but I would suggest you re-think that. It...
