Reg, I always enjoy the older machines, since that is what I grew up with. Really nice model.

Re: Demag TC 500 truck crane in scale 1/24

As usual, a giant step toward great detail with excellent craftsmanship. That's a lot of parts to keep in alignment while soldering!

Very cool! You just need a bigger pond at the top and bottom, so you can have a vessel or two waiting to lock-through!

Re: Why am I killing gearmotors

Interesting that you were breaking the teeth on final gear. In a spur gear setup, that is the gear producing the most torque, all concentrated on a single tooth. Planetary gearsets typically have...

Re: Rock truck question

Down my way - Kentucky & southern Indiana - they are called rock knockers. To prevent tire punctures, some quarries use large chains instead. They are looped below the wheel, between the tires with...

Re: Switch & Fuse in Battery Circuit ?

Lil Giants: Checked motor draw at hydraulic stall - it is 11A.
frizzen: Speed controller is rated at 60A.

So, a 20A fuse and switch should be okay for this?

Thanks for the help!

Very nice work! I especially like the suspension action - soft enough to move like the real thing.

Re: eagle mach parts

Often when a cylinder is not consistent , it is air in the system. It can be trapped and cylinder needs to be purged. Or there can be a crack in a line or tank low on oil. If you saw no apparent...

Very nicely done. There's a lot of work in the kind of weathering you did, and it is so realistic!

Re: Lead with sprocket or idler while operating (R/C?)

The "front" vs "rear" of the undercarriage is determined by the operator controls. All manufacturers I'm familiar with designate the idler end as "front" and the track controls work correctly in...

Switch & Fuse in Battery Circuit ?

I recently purchased a 4200XL ver 1.5 RC4WD excavator and someone recommended that I add an ON-OFF switch to isolate the battery (more convenient than unplugging all the time) and an in-line fuse for...

Nate explained that at a previous event someone put them in the crumb rubber for others to find. He collected them and they ended up in his excavator. At least, that's how I remember it told to me....

Great to have met you, Bart. Really enjoyed the landscaping trailer - something not often modeled. Hope to see you again in future.
