Re: My first semi build thread

Thanks and to be honest I really don't care if people have anything negative to say, the internet is full of opinions some good some bad.

Anyway with that being said I'll post another picture of...

Re: My first semi build thread

Finally laid down some color on the rails. It's not as dark as I previously visioned but it will still look really nice to me....

Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.

It seems very rare to see any truck that's not a mutt. Everyone seems to get some parts here and other parts there and they all come together in the end.

Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.

I may have to use this thread for reference on my build. Your Pete is looking really good, but wat makes it a half breed, I'm just curious.

Re: My first semi build thread

This is how it sits for the night. Not much forward progress but I mock up rear wind deflectors/sails/wings/whatever you call em. I think they will look nice on it plus it will kinda hide the...

Re: My first semi build thread

Exactly! Much less taping off for clean lines. Going this route with air cleaners I'm looking at, I won't need to fill any holes either. Next month I should have all the bodywork complete. I'm...

Re: My first semi build thread

Easy enough. I was beginning to think I would have to do that. I have to order some more styrene the appropriate thickness so can get started with that.

Re: My first semi build thread

I really appreciate your input. If I can get away with just bolting up the fenders to the original hood, I would be happy with that. I'm in no rush so doing a little more work isn't a big deal to me.

Re: My first semi build thread

Well, after staring at this body I ultimately chose to take the advice of the seasoned builders and remove the front fenders so they can be replaced with the correct ones. I wasn't happy about the...

Re: My first semi build thread

Here's some progress updates: primed the chassis and transmission cover so I can get some color on it to start building/adding axles and main components. Also working on filling and shaping the...

Re: International Lone Star day cab.

Reminds me of my neighbors international tow truck that was just a magnificent looking truck. I can't even imagine about all the work and engineering that went into this build. Hats off to you sir!

Re: Light colors?

That will look pretty good. Those colors will go great with the green lights for sure!

Re: Light colors?

I think the color of the lights is what pleases your liking. Red light with green paint looks Christmas to me. Blue lights with a blue paint would would look good if you add a secondary color to...

Re: My first semi build thread

In order to get tha convex shape, do you just use layers of thin styrene stacked to get an even curve to keep that step down to the hood? I'm going to tackle this today. Some day I'll have a nice...

Re: My first semi build thread

I would like to as close to possible to a 379 Pete and I would also be happy to give the look at first glance. I might see what I can do about that step down. Thanks for pointing that out, it's a...

Re: My first semi build thread

Began on the light housings removal. I can't really see the point in buying a whole new set of fenders when I have everything to fill small gaps....

Road findings seems like good solution also. It's looking like I have to do a little homework to decide which route that best suited. Alot of good ideas here, thank you. I need to get out and pound...

Re: Mini City

That would be ideal to use asphalt, it would definitely look nice. I have roughly 150' of road to make but I don't think I will do it all at once. Building in sections is what I'm going to do,...

Re: Mini City

That crushed stone would be nice. There are a few limestone quarries near me and widely used for roads(my road was limestone until this summer when it was paved). I've tossed the idea of using...
