Re: Transmissions & Transfer Boxes for 6x6

Ha, the RC4WD 3 speed when first released, the front output spun opposite the rear output. Simple fix on their part with an idler gear, but come on, really?
This looks pretty slick though, 2 speeds...

Re: Driven front axle options?

No, but the ESC makes up for a mechanical reverse.
This R2 version looks pretty cool, 2 speed and selectable 2WD/4WD....

Re: Cutting up a cab

There's also the string method which you can align each end of the cut, then draw the string back and forth between the two points. Use some string line or good nylon string. I've never tried it on...

Re: Midnight Pumpkin scale close to semi's?

Drat, yeah I just went and compared the Pumpkin to my Volvo cab, it is almost as wide. But maybe they would still look okay running together. I like big pick-up trucks!

Re: Midnight Pumpkin scale close to semi's?

Cool, thanks for that, and now that you mention it, I remember seeing one awhile back. I wasn't thinking of putting it on a semi chassis though, but I was playing around and cut a semi tire to fit a...

Midnight Pumpkin scale close to semi's?

I've never actually seen a semi, other than my Volvo cab I have now, but I have a Midnight Pumpkin body and I was just wondering if anyone else can compare the two and see if they look about right...

Re: Driven front axle options?

That's good thinking there. I have a semi trans and have been thinking how I'd couple it to a t-case, never thought about just building one on the back!

Re: Driven front axle options?

Smallhaul is doing this:

Or you can look around for a High Lift trans.
As well RC4WD and Eritex make some nice transfer cases, don't know how...

Re: even closer to newer.

Huh? Actually that doesn't help at all, I was asking about the all wheel drive dump truck in the first few pics in the first post. Looks like a High Lift front drive axle, was wondering what mods you...

Re: Pumper Truck Build

Holy smokes dude, incredible build!

How did this come about, or have you built other trucks for occasions also?

Re: my cabover

Nice truck, I really dig the pic with the trailer. The visor gives it a nice evil frown!

Re: even closer to newer.

Nice work on the dump truck. I see it has a High Lift axle under the front, what did you do to it to fit it in?
Also, what tires are those?

Re: Driven front axle options?

You can always just get a transfer case from RC4WD or Eritex. Or really a bit of rod and a couple pinions for something simple, especially if it's hidden from view.

Re: Driven front axle options?

Probably your best bet to try this sooner rather than later.

Re: "Driven" 9 or 10 hole aluminum front wheels

I'm thinking for mine of using the semi wheels I have, and in the front taking a couple bronze bushings, make a slot in one for the backside to engage the cross pin, and one on the front side. With...

Re: Driven front axle options?

I've gotten them in the past from RCP Crawlers, but they don't have them in stock at the moment. I hope they will soon though, I'll PM them on RCC and see what's up....

Re: Driven front axle options?

I'm planning on building my Volvo as 4WD. For the front axle I'll be trying this:

Or buying a German unit already built.

Seeing the pics...

Re: Lookin for YOUR opinion!

Yeah, even though I may act like a post ***** at times, I could care less about it.
20 to 25 sounds about right, that pretty much kills "Nice truck!", but still allows for short responses.

Re: Potential Chevy build

Nice score, looks like it sizes up with the semi about perfectly!

Collectable, schmollectable. It'll be worth a lot more to you RC'd!
