Re: Scaleart - assembling an Arocs 8x8 roll on roll off kipper

Now I know why I have stayed away from hydraulics :eek: You have a lot more patience than I every thought about having. Even with a degree in electronics, this end of the hobby simply makes me...

Re: Scaleart - assembling an Arocs 8x8 roll on roll off kipper

Looks like a great solution to loose hydraulic hoses. Hope that they will work for you. You might want to try some rubber cement to attach them to the cylinder- not sure what cement you mentioned is.

Re: Hoarder Special!

NICE!!!! Would a .50 BMG casing work for the air cleaner top? Not sure what the diameter of one is but should be close. The .22LR casings for the marker lights is out of sight!! Would suggest some...

Re: Volvo A40F

Awesome build !! I agree with Reg and Trucker Jo. Try to make the cab from metal. From your past builds, you have the skills to do it. It just takes a lot of nerve to try. You might want to go with...

Re: Scaleart - assembling an Arocs 8x8 roll on roll off kipper

Stephan,

Design flaws are anything that does not fit correctly the FIRST time. Not after you modify a part or screw to get things to fit. This is something that most of us expect with a Tamiya kit...

Re: Scaleart - assembling an Arocs 8x8 roll on roll off kipper

While the truck does look outstanding and does have some great engineering in it, it should not have all of the design flaws in it for what you pay for the kit. Even for an early production kit,...

Re: 6X6 Quarry Dump Truck

Izzy wasn't that bad at loading, needling him a little! You don't want me using the excavator!! You would be replacing parts not just have some scars

Re: 6X6 Quarry Dump Truck

Battle scars were from Izzy and his new excavator and wheeled loader. Amazing how we all loose stick control without lots of practice. Still better than using a shovel :eek:

Re: Photos From Midwest Spring meet 2015. Eli Field Montecillo IL

Many thanks to Nate for hosting another GREAT event! Had a much needed do nothing weekend watching everyone run and wrench on their vehicles. I think that wrenching gets contagious at a certain...

Re: Scaleart - assembling an Arocs 8x8 roll on roll off kipper

Thanks for the pic of the instructions. It actually does make sense for them to do this as it would be cheaper to buy 1 size of bolt and let the consumer size the bolt after it is installed.

Re: Scaleart - assembling an Arocs 8x8 roll on roll off kipper

Does the manual actually say to use longer bolts and then cut them to length? This is one of Wedico's complaints that we don't follow instructions about using the exact bolt size when putting the...

Re: SERIOUSLY?!!

While I have not made this mistake!! I still have not figured out why Tamiya insists upon using stickers in its large scale kits instead of decals. Really spoils the looks of the trucks to use the...

Tag Axles??

What is the maximum number of tag axles allowed under a dump truck now? I am starting to see some with 4 or 5 tag axles.

Re: More than just a thought ...

That little detail didn't get past me either :D:D Might be where your tire squat is coming from?? Rotary table can't be too light! Might need some tire filling to combat the squatting.

Re: More than just a thought ...

Chassis looks GREAT!! Speed of the arms and supports looks spot on. Really has a nice turning radius for as long as it is. Hopefully you will have the crane operational by August!! Maybe even the...

I will try to make it again this year. Was fun to get to test out things there and see all of the people (kids) watching everything run around.

?? for you- how many batteries are you using? With all of those LEDs, you should really light up a layout. No need for anyone else to turn their lights on :rolleyes:
