Re: Switch question

Very nice servo switch!
I don't know if this helps, but if you wanted to replace it with an arduino nano or something, the following code should in theory emulate it, reading one radio channel and...

Re: 1:10 10x10 "HEMTT" (actually M1074 PLS w/ M1076 trailer)

It's you! Nice to see the build thread alive again after the scale4x4 crash.

Re: Steiger Panther IV

:O This is so cool! I'm not planning to do an engineering masters degree, but I can probably manage 11 years of not marrying anyone. Do you think that's enough for me to be allowed to do an awesome...

Re: Peterbilt 6x6 Medium Hauler

As far as I can tell, the soundkit now has the power to take iBUS/SBUS in, decode and output servo signal for steering servo and 5th wheel, so that should work fine. I would guess you can use the 5th...

Re: Peterbilt 6x6 Medium Hauler

I really wanted a wheel controller for my truck too, but I ended up learning to "drive stick" because I needed 16 channels.

The transmitter is what determines how many channels are transmitted...

Re: Peterbilt 6x6 Medium Hauler

In theory it should be possible to add some code for that. I have used an arduino to control multiple things from a single channel in the past. But it won't be quick or easy and might not be...

Haha! You make a good point. Fighting with tools is more fun than fighting with a computer though.

Re: Norwegian Air Force Scania P470CB 4x4

Good to see you aren't afraid of starting big projects. M6 3 is actually the one mine is based on. It helped fight a huge warehouse fire in my home town. Do you know if it's still at Rygge? I read a...

Re: Hello from Norway

Welcome, Morten. Looking forward to seeing build progress.
Are you doing Avinor or Air force variants of the Scanias? You can save a lot of work if you do Avinor trucks with standard P-cab instead...

Re: Peterbilt 6x6 Medium Hauler

It's a great soundkit. Using it in my firetruck. I'm using my own hardware and heavily modified an older version of the firmware though. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

This truck is so...

Re: Seagrave Tanker

This is looking very nice! Looking forward to seeing this in action! Are those solenoid valves air tight as well as water tight? What did you use to make those suction fittings?

Re: MFC 3pin JST plug question

If I'm looking at the same thing, it looks like J8/J9/J10 are standard servo connectors, compatible with what's called the dupont connectors. They also look like they're actual servo outputs, with J9...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

The only compartments that are actually articulated are the lower rear switch boxes as seen at the bottom of post #2 and #44. I made a reasonably scale accurate but simple hinge with styrene and 2mm...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

It's definitely not done. There is still a long list of exterior and interior details, maybe some waterproofing, some structural fixes.

Re: Seagrave Tanker

Very nice floor and hinge mechanism! Before you clone the seats, make sure they're the right size for your cab. I think Tamiya uses the same seat in many of the trucks, so the scale might be slightly...

Re: Cockshutt 70 tractor (1935-48)

And if you don't have an old cellphone to tear apart, it would most likely be the same type of motor in a micro servo.
Welcome, 2redrovers!

I can't believe how silent that tractor runs! Nice job...

Re: Seagrave Tanker

Looks like a good plan. Looking forward to seeing how you'll fit it in the truck. From my tests I'd say there will be a surprisingly good flow from gravity alone for the dump chute, especially if the...

Re: Seagrave Tanker

I don't know if it's relevant to you, or if you've already considered it, but I stumbled upon some older notes. I originally wanted to use a gear pump that could run both ways, and considered using...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

6x12mm silicone tube is what was included with my main pump. I'm also using some of that for the same purpose. It's very stiff, but I inserted a bent large paperclip to force it to bend the right...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

I did the planning for a NIMH, but because of the specific mix of electronics I ended up with, I went with a 2s Lipo pack (Standard r/c car hardshell pack, same size as the NIMH stick but...

Re: Charging jack

What I don't like about shopping for switches is the lack of info. Some specify details, but most don't. How are we supposed to know if it's rated for 6A spikes or 6A continous? Is it heat limited?...

Re: Charging jack

The current will be the same either way. I'd probably feel safe using a 6A switch in a 1:16 wpl truck, but not in a heavy 1:14 Tamiya truck on rough terrain.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

Yes, it's all styrene. I don't have the patience or equipment for metalwork. Plastruct 1:16 scale diamond plate number 91683 to be exact. The other styrene is Evergreen.
