Re: Scratch built Toys

Fantastic!
Is that a working platform on the plow?
And the front wheel is an automatic steering aid?
Very neat - haven't seen this before!

Re: how to change controls on Spektrum DX6i?

@Travis
I was indeed talking about the more complicated light arrangement that people like to use. :) As they can get quite expensive (and sometimes large), they might want to have only one, which...

Hi Travis!

> JensR I do appreciate the other views of how to do things.
Nothing more is my intention and if I learn something new, then all the better.

Re: Is there any 1/10 trucks and construction RC out there?

1/10 is popular in some aspects of the hobby.
German tractors and Czech truckers come to mind.
Strangely enough, Germany (metric since forever) has adopted 1/12 (inch background) as the "next size...

Re: how to change controls on Spektrum DX6i?

Hi Footprint!

Good to read from you!
I haven't managed more with my Arduino radio than before.

It works quite wonderfully, but the idea of writing my...

Re: how to change controls on Spektrum DX6i?

Hi Travis!

Two of the switches will need more space than a mini-servo and a switch.
On your criticism of being more difficult to mount: Sure, you can just "throw in" the switches, but a servo...

Re: I can't believe this is what I have to start with!!!

Hi Travis,

Yes, tracksntreadslou's logging truck is the one I had in mind regarding the potential :)

But I guess I didn't know enough about the history of your project. :(

Cheers
Jens

Re: how to change controls on Spektrum DX6i?

Why would you switch the signal?
That means your switch needs to be able to switch each signal - you'd need a 4 pole, double throw switch.
If you switch minus or plus, you only need a single pole,...

Re: I can't believe this is what I have to start with!!!

Hi Travis!

I think it had potential to be modified into a cool and functional offroad truck, that's all.
Hence I was surprised to see such negative comments.

Good luck with your new build...

Re: I can't believe this is what I have to start with!!!

What is with almost everyone's dislike of offroad trucks? :(

Sure, a stiff suspension is not very useful, but look at those and tell me that they are not cool:

Re: 6x6 Dakar Race Truck (1:16 scale)

Looks great! :)
But this is not an MAN, this is a Mercedes SK :)
Bit hard to spot with the early Wedico style and the stickers are misleading.

Re: Volvo G990 Grader

Or sheathing around the hoses - not sure if any of that is realistic in the model.
It's problematic enough on the big machines.

I once saw an Australian(?) safety pdf where they talked about...

Stefan, not to be a party spoiler, but are these plates a good idea?

How do you prevent hose chafing and so?
I guess you can round the edges, but - not having the pdf of the original at hand -...

Agreed, although we should not forget that the skill to design something like that in CAD in a cost-effective and functional way is also considerable.
Ideally, you'd still need have some...

Re: CAT 14M Motor Grader

Tamiya has translucent paint for exactly that purpose.
It tends to be darker once mounted than when spraying, so do not overdo it :)

Not bad, these look really sturdy. The fourth function is only on-off, though - but I guess one could modify those sticks - still cheaper than buying a full-scale industrial joysticks and more sturdy...

Re: MPE – 24M Motor Grader Build

These are available on ebay: arcade joystick*

Some issues I can see:
Not cheap if you need several
rather heavy (but admittedly good quality and sturdiness)
only two axes per joystick, so...
