Re: cat D6T 6 way blade

Hi steve-I am always impressed by you and 9w making parts from steel. I can't do that!!! I just ruin tooling. I guess that is the difference in a machinist and a backyard-hacker. Guess I will stick...

Re: Dragline Rebuild

I have some work done on the swing assembly. I got the holes drilled and reamed so that is the critical part. I still have a little milling to do on the plates and another set-up on the...

Re: Ny-Lint Mobile Dragline Conversion

Looking good jim-how long will the boom be when done? Your pulleys look spot on too. Did you lay-out the holes free hand? Also, good idea to make the bracing in sections. I did it one pc. at a time...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus Erie 25B

Hi Jared-anything going on with this model? I see it 's been a few years since you posted. I enjoy these older machine models. How about some updated pictures.

Re: Ny-Lint Mobile Dragline Conversion

Jim-I certainly am not a machinist but I will offer this. If you are damaging your parts with the chuck you may be over tightening the chuck. You will learn as you go but on small parts using less...

Re: Dragline Rebuild

Jim-the pitch is good. The sides of the teeth on the main gear are not cut on the correct angle. I had no way to do that. I think that is causing the jerky motion since the pinion is not engaging...

Re: Dragline Rebuild

This segment is lesson #1 in what NOT TO DO!!! I had some small sprockets and I decided to make my own swing gear to match the pitch. I had to make it in-4- pcs. because at the time I didn't have a...

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

I can see the 2nd. one. How did you get that cat to stay on the trailer? The cat I had would have jumped 3' high as soon as the truck moved.
Can also see the 3rd. one. That's funny.

Re: Dragline Rebuild

Jim-the material is .025" thick sheet metal (a.c. and heating duct material) and I bent it into 1/4"x1/4" angles for the main boom rails and 3/16"x3/16" for some of the bracing.

Re: Dragline Rebuild

Hi steve-I am trying to stay busy and this is what I like. That is capacitors on the controller. The computer P.S. would shut down as soon as I moved the sticks (electric motor noise) and the...

Re: Ny-Lint Mobile Dragline Conversion

Jim-looks like you are having fun and learning about the lathe. I think a mill is the only way to do spokes. I did it on my mill but it took me a long time-...

Re: Dragline Rebuild

Thanks pumptech-this is the 1st. construction model that I built. Didn't know anything about dragline then and have learned a little since. I think I could make a really nice one now if I were not so...

Re: Just what I like to see

That is a very impressive lay-out!! I noticed another nice looking dragline in one picture. With all the micro parts available now someone could probably R/C a 1/50th scale truck. (Good project for...

Dragline Rebuild

I thought this might be a good time to post my project. I built this dragline many years ago and it needs some work now so I guess this is a good time. It originally was powered by a computer power...

Re: Ny-Lint Mobile Dragline Conversion

Nice work jim- smart decision using brass. I used steel on mine and it was really hard to braze all the parts on it. As it got heavier it acted like a big heat sink. Do you know what this bucket...
