After the first company went out of business,

I went to work for a different log trucking company. I drove their truck for 3 years. This was the second log truck I was assigned
It was equiped with Eaton Fuller 18 speed transmission, Cat 3406E at 500HP, engine brake, AND a retarder too. I LOVED the jake coupled with that retarder. I rarely, if ever maybe only a couple of times a day had to touch the brakes coming out of the woods. It didn't matter how steep the terrain was, this thing held back really good. It held so good, I'd go out the short way, that nobody else would go, for fear of burning up their brakes. they DIDN'T have retarders on their trucks
