Yea, with the Sherline parting tools you need to keep the blade as short as possible. Because they are so thin they can be easily deflected. And that of course will lead to problems. The other thing, if you aren't doing it, is Sherline recommends slowing your rpm speed to about half of what you used to turn the part and always use oil. I had not thought of using the Unimat cutter. I have one but would have to regrind it as I ground it to a curve to cut the grooves in a bunch of pulleys I had to make.
