Deans are definitely considered high current plugs. Probably the best you can get. There are some knock-offs being made and sold on E-Bay now and then. Traxxas's plugs are also pretty nice. A little easier to solder and assemble. They work just as well as the Deans plugs, but are a little bigger. I'm a Deans guy myself, and run them on all my models. The only thing about Deans plugs is sometimes it's tough soldering the 12 gauge and up wires onto the tabs, because they are so close together. You'll get it with practice, but don't expect the first one you do to be perfect, unless you've got some luck on your side and previous soldering experience. Now and then I still mess up a plug, and I've been doing it for years.

Traxxas plugs are so much easier. The terminal pins are soldered to the wire first, and then the pins are inserted into the plug. No melting of the plug, and plenty of room to solder the wires to the terminal pins.
