Re: broken fifth wheel
Just curious, you said you were pulling a loaded trailer in rough terrain, was it the weight of the trailer that broke the fifth wheel or in the rough terrain did you high center your rig causing the tail of the truck frame to go up into the trailer frame?
Hard to describe but if your tractor is headed down a steep hill and you trailer is on the uphill side of the hill the two frames can touch (especially if you have much frame behind your fifth wheel), bad things happen when the two meet up.
