that's exactly how I mounted mine.
On my first attempt I used Gorilla glue. Seemed fine but didn't take long and they came off easily... too brittle of a bond. Plan B was going to be epoxy when I thought about and chose to go with industrial RTV silicone. the bond time is longer allowing for more adjustment and alignment and once cured, they are secure but have give and movement without affecting position.

here they are mounted on truck and used the RTV silicone to secure...









I like the stance it gives and the way the fenders move with the wheel over bumps.
