Figure height for drivers?
About how tall should a figure be for a driver in the Tamiya semi's?
I'm looking at one on Ebay for a truck I want to build one of these days. It's $50 so I don't want to just buy it, but is open and cheaper than I've seen. Last edited by Thorsteenster; 08-25-2010 at 11:14 AM. |

Re: Figure height for drivers?
It all depends on what you think looks good. Plenty of people like the 3.75in figures. I think they are too small. A neighbor of mine had a Dr.Who 5" action fig but it was more like 5.25" and looked good next to the rig, but way too big for the stock seats. I think the verkerk cast drivers are good static, but I have yet to find a good action figure. If you find a good one, I'd love to see it.

Re: Figure height for drivers?
So I guess 4" to 4.5" would be good.
Well that blows, the figure I was looking at I think is more like 7". Waiting to hear back from the seller though. For some reason I was thinking they were like 5". |

I like the 1/16 Ertl Lowell Davis FoxFire Farm figures from the 1990's.

Re: Figure height for drivers?
I just ordered a 4.5"ish figure off Ebay, hopefully he sizes about right. I'll have to end up cutting him as his knees don't bend. His elbows don't either, so hopefully his hands/arms are positioned close enough to have a hand on the wheel and shifter.
I'll post a moc pic of him with the seat in the cab when I get him.

Re: Figure height for drivers?
Well I got the figure yesterday, and he seems to be a pretty good fit fo the seat. But both he and the seat seem tiny in the cab. What do you guys think, does he look alright?
I don't have directions so no idea on how wide the seats are mounted or how far from the doors, so maybe with a dash and all it will look better.

Indiana Jones and the Mercedes of Doom? Just my opinion but action figures are too small.

lol Looks good. I agree that the seats look out of scale in the cab.

And besides....1:1 drivers come in all shapes and sizes. Heck if you threw me in a 1:1 FH12 cab I probably wouldn't fill it out much better than 'ol Indy there at about 6'2" and 140 lbs. soaking wet. I'd keep him.....kinda looks like he's got on a duck brown Carhartt anyway....but maybe paint over the strap for his man purse. -Alex

Re: Figure height for drivers?
Never thought to measure the seat for scale. I have a larger action figure that I will try to get some pics of later today outside.

Re: Figure height for drivers?
Here are some reference pics. From left to right: 3.75" (std) action fig, 4.5" mannequin, 5" action fig (random skater thing), and 5" (but measures 5.5") Dr. Who action fig
