Anybody thought about building a live floor trailer? It would eliminate messy, expensive hydraulics and unrealistic screw drives. Definitely a challenge.

I dont recall where but I may have been on GT. The guy made a cotton hauler was it? Any way he had the a hard time with the actual belt for the floor. Finding something that could be held together and also revolve. It was way kool none the less. Thats a nice looking 1:1 to model after.

Ralph ( heavy weight ) built a walking floor . the cotton hauler was built by Rob ( rc farmer ) . I,m not sure if someone built this type yet .

Ralph did a live bottom, but it was the walking floor type, which is equally cool, and not the conveyer type, if memory serves me correct. I've looked at those live bottom trailers with the conveyers. I thought the same thing. A small electric motor could run the conveyer, and you wouldn't need hydraulics, even though the real 1:1 trailers use a hydraulic motor. It would be a really cool build. The only thing is I've never seen live bottom trailers hauling dirt. Bulk feeds and maybe wood chips, but never dirt. I think they stick to the lighter, bulk loads.

You have to love Michigan and their 11 axle rule, pretty much anything goes.
