Smith 40
I have built a relative unknown crane. Scale 1:25. Completely RC.
The original crane was build by Thomas Smith & Sons (Rodley) Ltd. Crane and Excavator Works. This type of crane was very rare outside the UK. My former boss had three of them and all were placed on a barge. That's why I built the crane without the undercarriage. Maybe in the future I will build the barge too but for now I leave it as it is. The model. Original with the barge. Last edited by xilence; 11-11-2011 at 05:46 PM. |

Re: Smith 40
Welcome to the forum. Very nice model crane. You should build a barge to mount it on. That would be so cool to do some scale model dredging. Can we see the inner works?

Re: Smith 40
Strange, I share them from my own website en it seems that '9W Monighan' can see them.
I really don't know what's going on. Otherwise I must them upload to imageshack, maybe that will help? |

Re: Smith 40
I see red boxes too Tom, if you right click on each red X, scroll down to properties, the url will appear to which you will copy & paste into another window to see each photo. (providing you're using Windows computer?) xilence, when you right click your photos on your website to see each pic's properties, does a different url appear? |

What Espeefan said. Your boom is much like mine, except it's clean and straight.

Re: Smith 40
Great looking crane! I'd be a little fearful of the barge over turning, with the crane being perched up on a pedistal like that, but I am sure it's safe. No one would ever do that if it wasn't. That is a beautiful model.

Re: Smith 40
Thank you guys for all your kind words.
@9W Monighan, the reason why I didn't built the barge are the measures of the model. The barge would be 5.3 ft long and 1.9 ft width. It's a little to big to put it somewhere in my house and where i can see him too. |

Re: Smith 40
Really nice model-I agree with 9W, It would be great to see it on a barge. We don't get to see that kind of equipment on this site.
