CORVETTE RACING
Uploaded with ImageShack.us I always loved semi trucks and I'm a huge sports car racing fan. So I decided to merge both of my hobbies together on this build!!! I got one of Izzy's toy hauler trailers and this is where I'm at on it. The plan is to have the trailer wrapped and then match it to the tractor. |

Re: CORVETTE RACING
Wow, it's a little misleading to see pictures of these trailers by themselves. They are huge! Bigger then I thought. I'll be watching this one. Looks like a cool project.

Re: CORVETTE RACING
That's pretty nice! The door opens and closes so smoothly. Are you using a little winch to do the heavy work? RC4WD? Nice job.

Re: CORVETTE RACING
Yea, It's an RC4WD winch with a pulley system I made. The plan is get the wireless remote with the winch. I don't know if you seen them, they come with a key fob, pretty sweet setup. Thanks for the positive comments!!!! More to come!

Re: CORVETTE RACING
Looks good . I noticed ya had some of the lights in it already. Was just gona say that it would be easier to have it wrapped then cut out the light holes to put the lights in it . Not sure how you were going to do it tho.

Re: CORVETTE RACING
Nice job very smooth. Is it just the weight of the door that lets it open

Re: CORVETTE RACING
Yes, it will be the weight of the door, still trying to perfect it!!!!!!

Re: CORVETTE RACING
Wolf,
How will the car get down from the hump of the axle placement to the ramp? I'd use a secondary ramp; it'd be hinged to the aft end of the axle hump, and just slides on the back door (or run on guides at the outer edges) When fully up, it is as high as the back door, and when down, would give you a decent slope to roll the car down on. If you wanted a bit more 'pull' on the ramp(s) you could put a small spring on the hinge, so the spring releases when the door is opened, and is tensioned when its drawn up. Thats IF you find you need one... with the dual-ramp idea, you may not need it. WhiteWolf |

CORVETTE RACING Small update
Well, I just got my body for Probuilder a couple days ago. Thanks again!!! I just mocked up the frame to see how long I want it. I think I'm going to go with an 30" frame as seen in the pic below. What do you guys and gals think? Does it need to be longer or shorter, or where it is? More to come. Thanks, Wolfws6

Re: CORVETTE RACING
I believe in keeping it scale. So with that in mind a 300" wheelbase at 1:14 scale would be about a 21.5" wheelbase. That is measuring from the center of the front axle to the center of the first rear axle.
Speaking from experience driving a 300" WB tractor on the street is not easy. There may be longer ones out there on the but I've never seen one. But in due return I have a 300" WB Wedico pulling a 53' trailer and it handles very well. |

Re: CORVETTE RACING
My bull Hauler is 32 inches long. The longer the truck the harder it is to turn

Re: CORVETTE RACING
Longer the better to a point the drive nice as a rc and ride like a rolling cloud in the 1:1 310 is my preferred length.. By the way wheel base is measured by going from the center of front hub to the center between the drives..
wedico looks pretty good I like the Husky trailer. Frame length looks good with the sleeper should be a good looking large car.

Re: CORVETTE RACING
I've always liked between 280-310" wheelbase. I also agree you measure center of front axle to between tandems. Build all my models that way.

Re: CORVETTE RACING
Not to step on any toes here but after owning a trucking company for over 20yrs and driving for over 20yrs I have been inspected by many Motor Carrier Enforcement officers and they have always measured the wheel base on my tractors by measuring from the center of the front hub to the center of the hub on the first rear axle, and same holds true when we were measured going into canada because there wheelbase law is 245" and they measured it the same way.
