Steamer
Well after a lot of prodding from Greg and Lou I guess this is the start of my thread. This weekend the three of us went in with the Campbell River model railway club for their annual train show. Albert and Jordy from the Port came over and it was a fun time with about 850 people threw the doors.
The first video is for Scott as it's his #1 Cat getting her feet dirty in the coal pile. Next vid is mister smoothy Greg loading my G scale train for delivery I have more pictures but we'll see how this works out. Rob |

Glad to see you start a thread. I had a great time at the show. Thanks Albert for letting me run the Skid Steer. Now I have to scrub all the coal dust off of it before I return it TheMachinist |

Re: Steamer
Just for you folks that have never seen an FWD truck, here's a picture.
Work to convert cab is next. Trying to form headlight buckets. At first one piece .060 and in the end laminated two .030 pieces. Made the mistake of using the green stuff. Thanks for looking. Rob Last edited by steamer; 02-10-2011 at 12:07 PM. Reason: lost link for photos |

Re: Steamer
Nice job on the styrene work Rob. Bending the stuff and having it stay there is not easy. Building it up like you did is usually the best way to do it.
Now I am confused, is it going to be a freightliner or a FWD? -Mike

Re: Steamer
Interesting new look for the globeliner donor, a great start so far Rob.
You'll have to get Greg & Lou to help ya with making a youtube account for future videos cause I just cannot get any of your vids from the railroad show to load. |

Re: Steamer
Thanks Scott and Mike for your comments on the styrene. This is a first for me for this type of construction, but it was fun learning curve. Up till now it's been strictly metal. Plastic melts when you burn coal. Mike, sorry for the confusion, but yes it will be a ForWarD Mover all the way. The Freightliner was just for the concept. I was thinking about it, but it would have been an even bigger mod than what I'm doing. Remember this is my first truck.
Joe, don't know what to say, yours is the first that wouldn't work. Anyone else have a problem. I have a U tube acct. but thought it would be easier to just use one place to link everything for the build. Rob |

Re: Steamer
After sanding and filling too many time to count, I gave her a shot of primer.
The grill was made from a second globe liner grill and the two were sectioned together. I all so attached an extension to the fender flare that runs to the back of the cab. Next up was to add on some of the lights and stacks to get a feel of how it was going. Even tried new wheels. Sorry Steve didn't know you were making them when this was done. Next up was making the screw drive and I didn't think to take pictures until it was painted. Thanks for looking. Rob Last edited by steamer; 02-10-2011 at 12:14 PM. Reason: lost link to photos |

Re: Steamer
Next up was making a mock up for the box. I thought about aluminum but after checking out styrene I took the easy way.
Didn't come out to bad, so I went ahead and built one with all the detail. Thanks for looking. Rob |
