CAT D11R-CD
Hello all,
Time to start a build thread me thinks well as the title suggests i am Building a CAR D11R-CD. So far i have collected most of the materials and parts to get it to a rolling frame. i have one of the (road wheel holders?) built and the other one just need some welding. ill be using #60 Attachment chain. i have about 7.5M of the stuff! i have made my own plans using the pictures out of the D11's brochure and 2 programs. one is paint.net (free image editing program) the other is screen calipers (measures anything on your screen) ill be doing some work on it over the next 2 days. i hope to get the road wheel holders, lower part of the frame and chain assembled.. ill be happy to supply a copy of my plans, you will need to download paint.net. and you can turn on/off the individual layers of the plans eg: no background, track assembly, lower frame or the body! all measurements are in mm pictures: |

Re: CAT D11R-CD
what scale are you going for? what do you have planned for drive motors? what about hydraulics? so far its looking good! dont be stingy with the pics share them i am sure i speak for everyone when i say we love visuals (videos work too) i am still preparing to build a d11. not sure which scale now. the deciding factor for me will be what i can get for drive motor and tracks and make it fit for a low cost. starting to think i might have to make the tracks completely from scratch.
thanks for posting! keep on it, very interested to see how it turns out! |

not to mention i would need to find a motor and pump to fit inside it along with 2 motors and controls.. as for the hydraulics for the ripper and blade i was thinking of using electric screw type rams. unless i use real hydros it looks to be close to 1/8.4 scale. 49.2" 1250mm L 19.6" 500mm H 15.1 385mm W (not including blade) 22" 560mm W (blade width) Last edited by DozerMan; 07-03-2011 at 11:06 PM. |

Wow! this is going to be huge
You will need a utility trailer to haul this thing. Look forward to seeing more of this build !

Re: CAT D11R-CD
that looks nice im starting a big build close to your dimensions im using rubber track with some big lugs cause wathching most vidios it looks like the dozers have no weight to push any dirt as soon as the blade loads up they loose traction so thats why i went with rubber tracks i know its not realistic but will be very functional i think good luck on your build looks cool

Re: CAT D11R-CD
I found motors for mine auto wiper motors geared and going to use electric screws for the rams I'm using a car battery for the weight and run time should get close to a hour run time with the geared wiper motors
