Custom build Scania Hauler T580
Hi...
I'd like to show you my actual project. The project bases on a standard kit of a Scania R620 But it will be modified to a T580 Hauler. Something like this: The modifications will be made by streching the frame and all needed custom parts will be build of styrene. Let me show you some pictures of the creation until the actual state. First I assembled the needed standard parts on a longer frame (plus 10.5cm) just to get an overview about the final size. Now the modification started. The upper part of the grill must be cut of. The lower part of the cabine must be cut off. The part I cutted of will not be thrown away, it will be the base of the to be modeled haule.

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
After that I started to build the splashboard (???)
As next part I started to create the side plates. But now it's time to see the first glance of a hauler...

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
Now it was the time to start to build the hood. Main challenge was to get the same curve in the edges as the bumber bar.
To get the same form of the edges for the hood I modified the deflectors After that they were cut down and glued to the cabine part I cutted off. In addition I added some styrene plates to stabalize the hood and to form the hood sides.

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
Next challenge was to build to upper part of the hood.
In addition I saw that the side plate was too short. I had to stretch it by 5mm. Next step was to add the side parts of the hood. Now I started the most hated part, sanding, sanding, sanding, sanding.... And that's the state after the first sanding... A small video (click me softly)...

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
After a while I noticed, that the space between cabine and fifth wheel is too large...
Two possible solutions: - New frame 5cm shorter - Fill the space with something... I decided to follow the second solution... LONGLINER !!!!!!!!

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
Hi,
two additions came to my truck. 1. The fifth wheel got an automatic mechanism to open it. And a small video about the function. 2. The root got a bit of light.

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
Hi...
Today I started with the lights for my truck. A time ago I saw a truck having daytime running lights and I decided to have this also in my truck. First I made the drilled the holes After that I formed the fiber optic cables. They are surronded by a heat shrink tube. At the end a LED is placed. And that's it...

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
Hi...
Longer time ago since my last post, so let me give an overview what happened in the meantime. The rear light have been extended fro 3 lights to 6 lights per side. During the build a colleague showed me his new lowbar. It was amazing, so I decided to build an own lowbar. After searching some brass, I started to build. After the form was made I decided to add some details and light.

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
After some time of building with styrene and brass I'd like to change to the electrics again.
I started to build a new board to give the truck a more realistic behaviour. The main features are: - Realistic speed up and engine brake behaviour - Realistic brake behaviour with an emergency brake - Realistic steer behaviour depending on the speed - Slow steering if the truck is stopped - Automatic cruise control feature - Heavy load - The speed and brake is more slow in the same way as it happens with a heavy load on the trailer - Gear mode (forward, neutral, backward) - If gear mode changes, the truck stops automatically in a realistic way - Providing a brake light and a reversing light - steering up to 4 steered axle in correct propotional behaviour After that I went back to the back lights, they got their LEDs. The center board for the back lights The center board to spread the lights for front and back

Re: Custom build Scania Hauler T580
Painting the seats I tested a new mechanism by using flour to give them a bit of structure. Some last peaces are drying at the moment. Tomorrow I can pickup the frame, it's actually at the painter to be powder painted. Keep you updated.
