Hello...
I am having a bit of trouble finding a supplier for DIN 71802 Angle Ball Joints with M4 threads (made out of metal) for a project that I am currently working on. They are out there - I have found them with extensive searching - but I don’t want to purchase a quantity of 1000 (minimum required). Only need about 50 -100 (right now I would be happy with 20!). Can any one direct me to a supplier? I would be a million times grateful for any help! Here is what I am looking for: [IMG] ![]() |

No help? Ok let me try another way...
Hello my name is Khim. I grew up in Wisconsin, relocated to Northern California 20+ years ago. When I was 8 years old my father threw me on an old Parson's rubber tire backhoe and said, "your old enough get up there and dig out that stump!" Well, I do not remember if I actually got that stump out but I still remember that day and the feeling I had running that machine! At 26 I had left the family heavy construction business, traveled around the country - settled down – finished college and became a design engineer. I don’t get to run equipment much anymore, only when I make it back home, so I took the two things that I am passionate about – designing & building and construction equipment and turned it into one of my hobbies. Ok- that’s me in a nutshell. Why am I looking for M4 angle ball joints? The project that I am working on is a 1:16 24M Cat Motor Grader and I need the M4s for the steering cylinder rod ends and the front articulation bar. Check out the picture. Anyone that knows of a source…USA, Europe, China, anywhere… doesn’t matter to me. I will buy from wherever I can find them and the price is right. Thanks for reading. Khim MPE [IMG] ![]() |

Mcmaster does not have that style. The closest I could locate was from Dubro
http://shop.dubro.com/products/produ...3.0.0.0?pp=12& Texken gave me the idea. Trucker N, I was searching when you posted. ![]() |

The smallest rod end I could find, with a metric stud in it, was 5mm. Perhaps you could locate a metal rod end, with a swivel ball, and a through hole, so that you could just run a cap screw through it? McMaster has more english sizes then metric sizes for both types of rod ends.

Scott – Held for ransom over a ball joint… LOL. I will post my build but it will be at a later date- need to work out some design issues first. I had already bought some of those rod ends from RC Rock Crawling. The heim joints will not work for my application.
Ken – Du-Bro I have been to their web page before. Their ball joint is a 4-40, which is too small for the scale that I am working in. If I decide to go with inch sizes, I would use an 8-32, but that is not the route I want to go. Trucker n – Mcmaster was the first place that I looked. M5 is a very common size - M4 isn’t. Car5858 – Thanks for the info. Not what I need but it is a nice looking ball joint. If only it was in M4. ihbuilder - Smallparts is a great sight. I bought their M4 and M5 heim joint. You can see the M5 in the picture. It would be great if the had the DIN 71802. VXB – is another great sight. I buy most of my bearings from them, but they have pretty much the same as what everyone else has. Nathan – How’s the weather back home? Thanks for the lead and idea but it is not the look that I am going for. The more I look at it, the more I think I should just machine them myself. Thanks guys for your suggestions, advice and links. Because of the metric size, I will either machine them myself or maybe someone from abroad can point me to a source. ![]() |

Well, hope you find or come up with something that works for you. Can't wait to see your build thread on these as it looks like you got 2 front axles there so assuming at least 2 graders, should be interesting.

Yes, that is some nice machine work! Very impressive. I'll be waiting for the full build up thread, if you start one. Weather in Wisconsin is pretty disappointing right now! It's still to cold, wet, and windy to really have any fun outside.

Ok this one isn't metric, but have you tried any racing supplier's for "linkage's"?

Hey Guys... just a little update. I found what I was looking for in Germany but when people find out how badly you want something, the price gets extremely over inflated. For what should cost me around $8 each maybe even $12 rose to $35 plus shipping. Crazy! I will machine my own for that price.
Thanks again for all the info and leads. Little teaser picture... ![]() |
