Wow, looking at the size difference between the trailers, I would have never guessed that. The big trailer surely can't be filled to capacity, with just 40K pounds? It looks 3 times larger then the pup.

Oh no, no where near capacity in fact I would say about 3/8 to 1/2 full. The pup isn't even full with 30k.. with the majority of the stuff I load, if I filled the trailers completely I would have about 120k to 130k worth of load. DOT would give me a nice award if I did that.

Well spent a day with a buffer recently and got it all polished up. Well everything but the steps. They are so trashed even gray rouge would not cut them.

Ever heard of shooting clover seed out of a sand blaster, to take the oxidation off of the aluminum? Vic up @ Vicar told me that, years ago.

Oh and to explain why I don't have my pup. Well on the morning of March 30th, I left the house went and hooked up my trailers, did my pre-trip (and I do a real one not just kick the tire and look at the lights). I left the place where I park the trailers while home made two left turns the second of which I have to go through a dip in the road. After I made the second left and was heading out of the sub division to the highway, I look in my right mirror and I can see BOTH of my tires on the front of my dolly. I pull over go back and look and the right side of the A frame on the tongue of the dolly had broke in half. Under further investigation they found that the metal had been cut some time ago, probably with a saws-all, and then a piece of DOT reflective tape placed over it. I'm just darn lucky that I was not running down the road either loaded or empty when it broke. ![]() ![]() The part between the arrows was perfectly smooth and straight. This is where is had been cut.

Wow, that put's the "PUCKER'' in thing's, glad nobody got hurt.
I lost my other tag trailer year's ago, crossed a deep cross gutter full of ice, trailer jack caught on the ice and the lunette or eye snapped off, and dropped the loaded trailer. Six States had one on the shelf. scrapped that one later on. The clover seed is hard enough to break up the oxidation, but not pit the aluminum. Cheer's, Neil. |

Word to the wise.... DON'T lose your main fan belt on a cummins ISX while pulling 117,000 pounds up a 6% grade...
![]() On the 10th I was heading out west in Nevada going to the gold mines when going up a grade my fan hub seized up and fried the belt which on a ISX is the only thing turning the water pump. Well in no more than ten seconds my alternator light came on, then my engine shut down light came on, them my engine stopped immediately, like right now.... Got it in the shop and the results were less than thrilling... Head cracked in four places... Replaced Turbo cracked and 2 fins broke...Replaced EGR cooler melted inside.. This is what stopped the engine, it filled the #6 cylinder with coolant and hydro locked the motor... Replaced Fan hub... Replaced 4 pistons and liners scared and the #6 connecting rod bent... Replaced Water pump seals melted...Replaced So basically if your keeping track Engine block, crank, and electronics... Original... EVERYTHING else replaced $30,000.00 bill (Thank Goodness I don't own it) Now for the cause. My fan clutch stopped working on the 6th so I went into our Wells, Nv terminal and had it fixed. The mechanic had a complete rebuild kit for the fan which included new bearings for the hub. There was also a nice note from the manufacturer on the fan clutch when you opened the box that said "ALWAYS replace hub bearings when rebuilding your fan". However the mechanic knew better, spun the hub by hand on the bench and decided that the bearings were just fine.... WRONG Hopefully they will have it done tomorrow and I can pick it up Monday. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mike
