Hi, I havent seen videos on working scrapers, are they just not as popular to build or do they not work as well as cats etc.?
I am planning my first scratch build of a 621 cat. |

Hi crusher-first, you need to learn how to use the forum by posting this in the right place. Scrapers are made by CAT so that makes no sense. And you need to do your research. There are lots of scraper videos online. In my opinion you are not ready to do a scratch build If you are not willing to do the research.

Look up so cal earthmovers on YouTube for scraper videos
In some circles "Cat" infers "dozer" or crawler tractor. Cheers, Neil. |

Crusher-I apologize if my post seemed a bit harsh to you. Lately I have noticed a lot of posts on here that are just a waste of time and space but I guess that is none of my business.

Thank you modelman, I am new to the forum and didn"t realize I was in the wrong section, my question was serious, I have spent many hours researching everything RC. and was looking for a video of an rc scraper working. I did not want to start a project that would not work.

Thanks gordon0803, they seem to work well when towed, I wonder about traction on a wheel powered machine.

You're welcome. I haven't see any self powered one. All that I have been able to find are the pulled type. But seeing how people have been able to get these r/c equipment to do some amazing things I would not see why one could not been made that works the way a 1:1 does.

Thanks very much for all the posts and videos, it looks like traction could be a problem especially with single engine units. Your replies have helped me in deciding what I want to build. Back to the drawing board.

Maybe if you built it like the some ADT's are built and use gear drive motors in each wheel if may have enough wheel pull. There are some real high torque systems available now that might provide enough power. Some of these gear drive motors put out 600 in oz of torque but getting it to the ground might be tough. What scale are you planing because it limits the size of the tires. The bigger the scale the more rubber hits the road.

the key is weight and just enough motor to fill the bowl . Remember , when You drop the bowl , Your taking weight off the drive line . Rob , individual drive motors will give you more room for electrics and hydros . Mine going to be pretty cramped till I get everything in
