I just came into possession of a tamiya chassis that was shortened and a bruder Mack cab put on. It's just a single axle now in the rear so was thinking this would be a prime candidate for making a dumper for the kids to mess with. I've done a bit of looking around and can only find 40-45cm boxes and I'm looking for more of a 15-20cm length. Was just wondering if anyone was making/selling anything in this ballpark before I get into fabricating one as time in the shop is limited these days. Thanks for any input.

I don't know your skill level or where your at, but if you have an LHS or Menards near you can build a dump box for under $20. Check out this build thread a little Midwest plywood and Bass wood and superglue I put it through the ringer outdoors with just about anything you could throw at it.

Thanks for the replies. Saw rcp57's great work, just not sure I want to throw that much $$ at it then have kids bash it up, though time is $$ as well. May go the wood route Truckmaker suggested. What kind of adhesive did you use on the wood?...seriously CA?

If your building for the kids why not use the Bruder's tub ?

Too Long, though I could chop it up to shorten it I suppose. Thanks for the pic.

Thanks for the Bruder idea Farmer. Gonna give the small tipper that originally goes with the Mack cab. That and an actuator and I should be in business with some fitting.

Yep, I use hobby grade CA from the LHS. Thick and gap filling. Don't use thin. That's what holds RC airplanes together unless they are all foam. There are no metal fasteners in that box. its been tossed around the shop lately since I built a new box for that truck. It'll get turned into a dump trailer one of these days.

Yea, if the bruder doesn't work out I'm take your suggestion on the plywood and bass wood route. Never thought thick CA would hold up to impacts like a box may encounter, thanks for the tip.

If you put a good bead of CA between the 2 pieces then come back and put a fillet with thick CA on the seams and hit it with kicker, its just like a weld joint on steel. If done right you'll rip the wood apart before the joint. I also CA a piece of aluminum channel on the top edge of the box sides so if the guys hit it with an excavator bucket or loader it wont chip the wood.

Decided to go with the Bruder. Chopped it up and did a try fit. Also throwing in a 4:1 reduction to slow down the Tammy transmission and some BB filled TLT-1 tires on the back to get some good off road grip. Still a bit of work to do on the actuator mounting and finding a new set of front wheels/tires, but it's on it's way. My start a separate build thread on this little sucker.
