Good day to everyone. Just intruduced to rc construction. I have been involved in rc racing and airplanes for the past 25 years. Seen li giants you tube page and brought back thoughts and dreams of when I was a kid. Thought it would be very net to have working rc construction equipment. I think we all love construction equipment when we were kids.
I chose the user name fired up because I and very fired up to build a project and have decided to build a d8. Now gathering parts and pieces. Thanks to some of the threads here for info. I will post some pics as I build. Thanks for the inspiration and great builds Patrick. |

Fridays here and gone. Got tied up in local volunteer fire deptment business. Never got in the shop. I have lots of parts. Got motors from servo city attach ment chain ordered lots of round stock on hand just need to get at the lath. Has any one used grease to tighten the track. That's what my plan is right now using 5/8 round stock going into 1 3/4. With 2 1/2 wheels at each end. Would like feed back on the grease idea. Thanks.

Grease is messy I use springs and 1/4 inch bolts in a piece of pipe, I can show you a diagram.

Had time in the shop last couple days. Finished the rollers for the under carriage. Started to turn the bigger wheels for each end of the tracks. Very slow with my small lath. The pieces that I'm using are 2 3/4 and all most to big for my lath. But fit. I am turning them down to 2 3/8 same size as the sprockets that I have. Hope to get more done this week.

It's been awhile but I am back at this build. I using a 3/4 steel plate for my base to add a low center of gravity. I thought about using grease but chose to use a spring to tension the track. Here are a few picks of what I have done
