i usually buy from rcscrewz.com but they only offer 15 screws in a bag so they are out. Then i found Bolt Depot they have socket cap screws in 100 bulk packs for around $3.75 a box, and i want these but they only come half threaded and im not sure if they will work on our semi trucks.
http://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_sock...m_x_0.5mm.aspx Then you have McMaster-Carr, they only have 50 bulk packs, but they sell full thread or half thread but at twice the price for half that Bolt Depot sells im leaning towards Bolt Depot now. But...... they sell these awesome cap screws which come in 100 bulk packs but again at more than double the price http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-cap-screws/=fy9nxu so i like the cap screws but at double the price im talking 40 bucks for four different sizes i need plus tax and shipping! Where bolt depot is like half for the socket head screws???? So has anyone used either brands? and could i use the half threaded screws with no problem? |

Are you going by just the pic they are showing as to weather or not it is fully threaded? If so you might want to contact the supplier. In general as a bolt gets longer it will have a shoulder and not be threaded all the way and if it is it will cost more.

I've used mcmaster-carr twice in the past few weeks. Ordered a few boxes of different lenghths/sizes of the socket cap screws. Also bought the correct taps and drill bits for the size screws that i ordered.
quality for everything was great, and I was OK with the price. I really like their website...very user friendly. And the best part is that they have a warehouse in Elmhurst, IL which is about 30 miles from me so shipping takes a day. |

mcmaster states they sell full and half thread socket cap screws. Last night i took a few screws out of my semi to see if half thread would work and im sure it will. Since my main plan is to use them on all the frame screws that hold the supports and axles on. I really like the small 3MM hex head bolts that both companies use. Has anyone used them?

My problem is getting 4 & 5mm hex head HT bolts with any plain shank. I am looking for 30 - 40 with 12/13 mm of shank. Just not available in the UK. We used to have so much but it's ALL disappearing

I like using these guys;
and especially the button head screws, they look more like rivets on the frame rails. http://www.fastener-express.com/metr...s-washers.aspx
