Yeah I will have to pin it on. Most 1:1's have pins or a loop of cable and a shackle or something. I have a lot more work to do on it but just had to try it out to see if it would work

Thanks guys. I have never had anyone tell me that they have 'firewood envy' before!lol
Modelman, I don't think I build all that fast I just treat every build like a job that pays by production not by the hour...I guess that's how I was raised.lol I think I figured out a simple solution to my lifting hitch problem. I made up a hook and welded it to the front of the trailer. Then took a piece of cable and looped it through the ring on the center of the bunk. The natural tension in the cable keeps it on the hook and all you have to do is pinch the loop together and it comes off....no drill holes, drill holes!haha I also added some bracing to the hitch, shortened it to the proper length and add some stabilizer blocks that rest on the bunk if the trailer tips too far(not shown in pics). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Another home run Reg! Have you considered some scale rail road ties, to put under the beaver tail when loading the hoe?
Cheers, Neil. |

Clever solution to keeping it held down, but I think Tony B. will be disappointed cause you didn't drill holes!

Haha Tony B can help me drill holes in my next project...come to think of it, I would have drilled holes in my truck if I thought that I was going to find gold in it...
No work progress today but I did try to load and haul around my skidder for a bit. It is so nose heavy that the front motor runs out of grunt while trying to crawl up the ramps in reverse. If you load it head first it goes on fine but doesn't fit well on the deck that way. It looks like I really can't drive in the video(really can't) but if I don't start up the ramps crooked the blade hangs up. I guess if I ever finish the hydraulics that shouldn't be a problem... ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRxTn...tJ-DusnO8Onw7A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHMfC...tJ-DusnO8Onw7A Reg |

I think Neil's (doodlebug) suggestion about using some scale railroad ties is a good one. That or maybe back into a burm or ledge. I'm sure it would load easier that way. Just a thought...

Haha, I missed the post from Neil so I went back and checked it out...I guess we were posting at the same time kinda. That is a good idea and I did cut extra planking when I made the deck boards thinking that I would need some blocking. I think once the hydraulics are working on the skidder it will be OK. I should be able to push up a bit of material with the blade or even put the blade down while backing onto the trailer for added lift. At any rate it has been fun seeing how things go onto the lowbed...

Reg, thanks for the BS session today. it was great to catch up on all that's been happening. As I said before, the truck looks great and the trailer looks awesome with a little paint on it. Great Work!!!!
