Earth Digger 4200xl from China
Hello folks.
I have some quick questions about this machine and any info or advice would be much appreciated. How is the quality in regards of power, reliability and durability? The website I found this on is with an organization called Aliexpress. Website addy here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-12-...599688807.html Does anyone have any experience with this site? IS it trustworthy? I have read all the info I can on the page and links regarding warranty and refund....seems legit but still I find it hard to trust online shopping from sites I have no experience with. Are tehre any other sites that provide this machine that you have dealt with and find trustworthy and reliable? Thanks folks. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

I find that price kind of hard to believe when RC4WD, the company that makes that excavator, sell it for $2699.

Yeah, something wrong there - way too cheap & package weight 5kg...
Seller info on the side bar Sold By sien shao China (Mainland) No feedback score. Detailed Seller Ratings information is unavailable when there're less than 10 ratings. looks like a scam

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
Thanks for the info guys. I knew it was off when I saw the weight...I even contacted the seller and had no response.
I am very weary of purchasing over the internet in any form other than paypal to be honest. Had some bad experiences that left a sour taste for internet transactions. But my current location (Newfoundland) has left me no choice if I want to get into the hobby ( which I do, I go to bed thinking about it..lol). If you guys have any suggestions of stores, people or other sites that sell these machines I would love some guidance. Thanks again for any help!! |

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
Yes, I was interested in the earth digger 4200xl. But I did read that thread on the Kat as well and that looks like a promising machine too. Basically looking for an excavator to start my hobby off and get a truck (semi-dump or dump truck) a little later.
The China Kat I found on this website: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/KAT-1...839814932.html I never dealt or even heard of this site until I started researching this hobby and the items I wanted to purchase. I am new to construction side of this hobby, never done a conversion or scratch build either. Basically I would like to obtain a ready to dig machine or one that has easy to obtain conversion kits with easy instructions. I am mechanically inclined as I was a heavy equip mechanic before a car accident ended that career...now I operate heavy machinery. One thing I did notice, I looked for used machines as well. Found only a couple. Which means either these little monsters are very durable and reliable or people just won't part with them for love of the hobby. I apologize to you all, I didn't realize until after I returned from work I had made this thread in the wrong section (at least I believe it is the wrong section). I meant to put it in Construction Equipment....my apologies. Thanks again people for your help. Hopefully I, by the time spring breaks I will be breaking ground with some machinery of my own. The search continues and all help and info is greatly appreciated. |

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
Whiskey, I am pretty much doing the same research, onthe same machines, with the same Web sites as you, and I a m also a New to the hobby. Been talking with Lil Giants, Great Guy!! Very helpful.
Anyway, Do not buy that excavator on Aliexpress, It's a scam. Although there is a guy With his shop on Aliexpress called Model Home, he has both the 4200 XL and the 8x8 armageddon dump truck. Was about to pull the trigger with him, he accepts PayPal, he says but Alixexpress does not. I Don't know how to Submit a paymet to Him? Got him down to $5650.00 for Both. Not comfortable with Transferring this kinda $$ to China (Bank Transfer), although the guy seems to be legit? Think I am Going RC4wd. |

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
Thanks oztruck. I don't mind assembly to much....its more of a "I want that excavator and I can't wait to use it right away" kind of thing lol.
In any case, I ordered a Hobby Engine Excavator Premium Label. I did read the threads and watched the videos on the modifications to this item so I will give that a try and see how it works. More of a sample item to test and learn about the construction of these little wonders (minus the hydraulic system of course). Only reason I purchased this is basically to take it apart and check out its construction. Perhaps use it as a template for a scratch machine at some point (hopefully my friend can build for me..he is a machinist). Thanks for all the info people...I greatly appreciate it. Edit: I have been looking on RC4WD website, some really nice stuff there. But, when the wife saw the prices she basically told me "your gonna have to save up for that...start working your overtime hours." lol |

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
Whiskey,,,
Hopefully you will save. My wife saw the prices and left the room..... still havent managed to ask her opinion yet.... I think she is being careful.... the last time I said that I wanted something she said you can have it if you make your own money...(meaning nothing from the family coffer) Well needless to say three years later I sold the business she made me create to have my toys. Maybe she wont say that again. But if she does so be it.... LOL Michael (ekim) |

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
I'm in the same boat as you guys. I can't decide on what to get. KAT or 4200xl. A few guys on this forum just purchased the KAT so I'm following up with them to get a feedback. The 4200xl looks promising though.

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
Yes me too liftmys10. Watching the threads regarding this machine.
Does anyone know if that Hobby Engine Excavator Premium Label is worth an upgrade to hydraulics. Never saw any info on actually putting hydraulics into it. I know it is made of hard plastic but if I reinforced the boom, added weight etc? It may hold me over until the spring when I can get a good one. |

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
I was looking at the Bruder as well and I am impressed by that machine. Seems to have smooth movement and good power.
I have already ordered the Hobby Engine, I will do the conversion on it basically to learn the basics of doing conversions. Since the Hobby Engine is pretty cheap, I figured it is a good way to learn. |

Re: Earth Digger 4200xl from China
Hi Whiskey,
If you looked at the bruder, what about this metal one, http://www.magomhrc.com/en/catalogue...r-battery.html I've done a bruder conversion with hydraulics, really good fun and cheap way to learn. I'm onto my second conversion of the bruder cat 320. cheers Jamie |
