Go for it! I stole the idea off a guys static model diorama over on scale4x4.

The barrel was a container of "toxic slime", i think they had black and grey. The wood was split out of bamboo skewers using a utility knife blade as a froe. Some dabs of CA where it looked about right. Made this so it can hold barrel on either top of posts, or resting on the upper braces.

Top of posts were trimmed to get one side lower to have a sump area in barrel. Also 1 side is closer to vertical and the top is short enough a bruder Linde h30 forklift could be used to install it...

Still needs a fuel hose and handle. Can't decide if i like new wood, or want to weather it. Might look good with some gas station logo, or maybe 'Diesel' / 'Gas' lettering.
