Just a FYI, Tamiya now do a hardened bevel pinon and cup set for their stock axles:
#56529 4x2 (i.e, one axle) #56530 6x4 (two axles) Thinking of getting some as I have a tonne of backlash now in my diffs in both trucks (**** those high miles...  )
