Hi guys, it's been a while since I touched this truck because I ran into some issues with figuring out the placement for the drive gear and make it look somewhat okay. I also had a problem with the steering rod touching the lower suspension links when turning. The solutions were to move the steering rod to the front ( Yes I know, big No No but I will get around it later) . The drive train fix was to lock the tranny in 4wd mode and add a transfer case. So I made a plate to mount the transfer case so it sits nice and tucked in, then moved the mounting point on my Veroma tranny to the underside and made some plate mounts to elevate it on the chassis. Next was the drive shafts, to make it work right with all the travel I will get some of the scale ones that extend and contract to the lengths I need , but the cut to size brass ones will work for now to at least get things in place. The fenders went on next, and what a pain in the rear that was to get them lined up just right, I have never worked with a blank chassis before and this was testing my patience , I am not a fabricator and have no idea how to work with metals, but I am putting this mill to good use and learning for sure, measure 5 times and drill and tap once....lol. Now I need to figure out a steering system and locking mechanism for the cables. Cab is cut and the new low line roof is installed and the bumper is ready to be drilled and prepped for lights. Tons steel need to be done but at least I am closer to making it look like a truck. Oh and I painted the wheels and hubs for S&G's ...lol. Here is what I've done so far.
Thank you for looking!
