Trailer lights working w/o being hooked to truck. How?

Electronics tech Anything to do with the electronics in a model. Lights, Radio, ESC, Servo, Basic electrical.

SS Tronix uses a infra red sensor through the 5th wheel pin and once truck is unhooked , the lights on trailer will stay on but cannot receive new commands until hooked back up. I noticed in the video the trailer back up lights came on with truck detached.
Must be a system based on radio frequencies??
