Yes, parts are getting harder to find. We run a 4-71 in our fish boat and it has been a great engine. It's good on fuel (despite what many people think about the engines) and pushes our boat at a decent speed. We use a 4-1 reduction with a big wheel for the size of the boat and don't run it past 1800rpm.

I'm in Sooke, so not far from Victoria.

Kaptian Jack are you not going to the meet this Saturday in Kitchener, and have you been to either of the last two there? I'm the guy in the wheelchair.

We use to have a Link Belt yard crane with a 4-71 I believe ,seen it apart many times ! Fuel mileage wasn't a concern we were building Locomotives, Been to Sooke a couple of times ,to the Pot Holes and around to Port Renfrew ,Beautiful Land would really like to retire there, its got it all. I think about it more and more , especially after getting another winter blast today,1/2 metre drift down the driveway

Hey Rev you know the trails at Aps Mill are not too bad for a place to run the rigs might be fun and others could bring crawlers or trail trucks. Smooth enough for most and off road areas for others. And it's free to use when weather gets better. If someone has an area we could get indoors would be best no worries of weather.

I'm not familiar with Aps Mill, where exactly is it? as for an indoor place to play I have connections to the Ancaster Fair and there is a building that has a fair bit of open availability....I am sure that if enough guys around here were interested we could swing a deal to each pay a set amount and have the use of the building....I tried to round up enough guys one time last year but there was not enough interest...
