I think it is more which MFC suits the needs of your vehicle?
The MFC01 was the original for most trucks
The MFC02 was made for the F350, Tundra Etc (But sound great in some trucks?)
The MFC03 is the newer version with the Euro style engine (Scania, Merc Etc) but has taken a lot of the features that were in the MFC02 also and they have added a few more.
As to the DX7 radio, cant see any issues personally. I use a DX6 with my F350.

I just got the Futaba 4WYD and it works well with the MFC01 including the engine start up and shutdown. $109 plus $33 shipping..

I have 3x Futaba 4YWD's, one with a MFC-01, One with a MFC-03, and one with a DMD in a tank and they all work superbly. Great unit but if I get any more trucks I will consider a 6J or 8J or something with multiple model memory etc.
