I was wondering what grease you use for the transmission gears and diff gears that is safe for metal and plastic? The tube of Tamiya grease seems very small so wanted to get something from Home Depot or auto store.

I use the grease for 1:1 vehicles. I have been using it for years, and my experience is it does not affect plastic. I use it in the transmissions differentials, and even the motorized support legs. And one more thing, I've had the same can at least six or seven years. It will last me forever I believe.

White lithium grease works for everything and it's safe for plastics too. For metal gear I've switched to Mobil 1 synthetic grease. Something like you could use to pack bearings. It's just a little stickier and stays on the gears better.

Either Tamiyas Ceramic or Molybdenum. I think only the earlier kits (like globes and kings etc) came with moly.
That tube that comes with the kit should be more than enough for a tractor truck. And you should only be using half if you are fitting it with ball bearings.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I have decided on white lithium grease. Seems it will work on both metal and plastic, comes in a tube and is reasonably priced.
