Reg, I love it. I really appreciate you going out your way to make the last minute changes that I asked for. I always dreamed for owning and rc dump truck and thanks to you it's actually happening. Thanks a whole lot again for everything Reg.

What's the purpose of the spill plate?... hauling moist dirt, it'll interfere with the tailgate closing & the door won't lock

It's not something you see here very often on real trucks. I'm not sure what it's really needed for, I just try to build what I'm asked. It looks like something that would get bent or torn off on a 1:1 in this area but we don't have drop axles or any of that stuff either. Just good old tandem dump trucks....Most of which look well used within a very short time.lol

The spill plate is mostly used for asphalt when backed up to a paving machine,
preventing asphalt from flowing over the hopper in front of the paving machine when tipping. And it protect the rear end of the truck, mud flaps and lights. ![]() |

That makes sense. The last truck I noticed one on was dumping asphalt into a hopper on the paving machine. I see lots of trailers have them and I assumed it was to protect the goodies on the back since they are so flat on the rear panel. Tail lights right below the tailgate without protection not good one...

Not that I own anyone an explanation on why I asked Reg to put a spill plate on my box, but this is how the dump truck that we have here are. As mentioned above it's to divert whatever material that we may be carrying away from the rear undercarriage of the truck. Especially when carrying loads of stones. But, I am sure that you already knew that.
