Hi everyone, I happened across this thread about my trailers and thought I would pop in and say hi. I am glad you like your trailer "trucker n"! I enjoyed reading the comments here.

I did relocate from the Seattle area to northern Idaho this year. Finally got all settled and started building some trailers on October 1st.

I designed my trailers in late 2012, and am glad to see people like them. I saw a comment on the beavertail, about how much weight it could carry. Basically, if a 2 axle real life trailer without bed strut supports can carry it, then an equal scale weight could be carried on mine. As a side note though, I am currently not building the beavertail at this time, since I need to concentrate on the flat decks and drop deck orders.

For example, it can not carry the weight of a 45lb 870K loader, 45 lbs scales to 123000 lbs, and no real life 2 axle drop deck can carry that kind of weight either. A drop deck with a 2 axle spread would have a legal weight limit of about 20k lbs on each axle, which scales to about 7.25lbs per axle on a 1/14th scale trailer. So if you had a 30 lb load and 15lbs was on the tractor drivers and front axle, then that would leave 15lbs on the trailers 2 spread axles.

Wow, well there you go!, that will probably void the manufacturers's warranty!

Speaking of excessive weight, I had a customer who had the loader which weighed 45lbs and it was causing the RC4WD lowboy to drag on the ground due to the excessive weight compressing his trucks suspension.

I built him a 2 axle jeep or dolly with heavy duty airbag suspension to cure his problem. He sent me a picture today of his rig with my dolly attached, worked out real good.

I will attach a couple pics of the dolly as well as a picture from one of my customer's looong stretched Grand Hauler with one of my 53ft tri-axle drop decks attached to it. It makes my 47.25" trailer look short almost! He just got this trailer a week ago from me.

Curious what that jeep trailer looks like. I have the same RC4WD lowboy and clearance can be an issue at times.

So I will try again with my pictures. So hopefully my jeep that I built for the RC4WD lowboy shows up along with my customer's rig showing it attached. Also one picture showing another customer of mine with his long stretched Grand Hauler, and one of my 53' drop deck tri-axles behind it.

The only thing that would be better is if the lowboy had a longer neck so weight could be transferred to the tractor axles, right now all the lowboy weight is completely on the jeep's axles. The lowboy kingpin needs to reach in front of the dolly's front axle to put some weight on the tractor also. But it works fine this way. That loader is 45lbs he said, so the jeep is keeping the front of the lowboy off the ground.

A folding gooseneck would be great!

Great work Darwin that looks like a solid towing setup! It must be easier to back up now with the loads weight transferred to the jeep. Had to swap out the rear suspension on my hauler when pulling the lowboy with the 4200 excavator on it or else the rear would bottom out. Might just have to get me one of those jeep trailers

Well at this time I don't have any plans for a lowboy. A frameless hydraulic 40ft end dump is higher on my list when I do decide to build something new, or a quad axle flatbed with lift axle in rear.
