Thank you, I know what you mean about the cost. My first and main hobby is collecting 1/16 farm toys, I once had a King Hauler but the size difference between the tractors and it turned me off. I also liked all the aluminum of a Wedico but to tell the truth they are not worth the money. The only things left in my truck that are Wedico is the cab and sleeper, frame rails and wheels. So many of the parts have been custom built by vendors on this site, the drive train is all Scale Art, the transmission is Veroma and the motor and ESC is Tekin. I have spent a lot on parts that didn't even work out. It has been a learning experience that I don't care to do again even though I love my truck. Still need a trailer, rear fenders and deck plates, the spending is still not done. With all the aftermarket parts for a Tamiya now available you can really build a nice Tamiya, of coarse the money adds up there too. I love customizing Ertl Precision tractors to go with my Wedico, one day hope to have a trailer to haul some of them around. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I love those Precision IH tractors, with big tires! Super sharp. Those will match your Wedico great, Craig.
No comment on Tamiya vs. Wedico, other than both have advantages and disadvantages. The USA aftermarket is so strong now for Tamiyas, about the only reason I still play with the Wedicos is because I like the smaller 1/16 scale, and I love the Peterbilt cabs. I would do a lot of things different, if I started over today. Both brands have some good aftermarket support now so all that you really need to do is piece a truck together with those aftermarket parts you like, and not waste your time spending the money on a full kit for either. If your end goal is to have a custom truck, you can save a ton of money by building one in this way.

Claus, I have to admit I loved going through your build. I really like all the detail your putting into it. Just when I think your about finished, I see another page with a cool new add on you have found. Makes me want to blow the dust off my wedico...

Thank you very much! It has been a wild ride, highs and lows, there have been times I thought it would never be a running truck. This forum can be a two edged sword, sometimes you can come here for inspiration, other times you can see what other people build and than look at your build with great disgust. I have been there.

Not much to report, thinking about how I want my rear fenders and deck plates, these fenders are getting cut up and tweaked but I couldn't pass up today's sun against the up coming wheat field. These fenders do not fit my spread the way they are and I don't find any that do so will have to come up with something custom.

Oh, shiny! Looking great under the natural sunlight, that's for sure. Those triple fenders look really good on your truck, Craig. They go well with all the other aluminum parts! I see what you mean about the length. So close.

Thanks for the compliments. The PMD lowboy is very nice. I called Ric, He doesn't have any intentions of scaling His lowboy down to Wedico width. My fifth wheels sits about the same height as a Tamiya so that's not an issue but I don't want a lowboy that is wider than my truck and has bigger tires than my truck I will keep looking. All American Toys lowboy is the right width but the neck is much too low, the M+J Talbert is nice but I believe has the same issues when hooked to a Wedico. |

Thanks again for all the compliments guys. John aka Stylin n Profilin built the stacks, not sure if He still hangs around here or not.
Don't do much with my truck anymore but it's a good reminder not to do it again! |

Is it possible for you to send russisloud some pictures of your bumper. He built it a couple years ago and I want a bumper like that. It's getting hard to find good people to build wedico parts. Thanks I would really appriciate it.

A the time I had a PMD bumper with round edges, I sent him that bumper to use for a size pattern but my front crossmember is also custom built so He drilled the mounting holes to match that. espeefan later mounted the bumper hitch for me with his mini mill. Buy a PMD bumper for gardentrucking.com and use that for a pattern, if your front crossmember is stock it should come out perfect.
Hope this helps. |
