I have 1 question though, wouldn't it have been easier to just make the holes getting plugged 4 mm rather than turning down 100 sections of plug rod?
I did consider that option but felt that trying to line up that many holes to be able to consistently center drill them all out would be just as trying. I would still have to make all those plugs anyway. Once I had the cutter on the lathe set to the depth of cut I needed it really went fairly quickly. Only had to make a single pass of the cutter for a few millimeters, hit the rod with a fine tooth cutoff saw and on to the next. Probably only took a little over an hour to make all the plugs.
