I started building a snow blade for my recent purchase. I bought the tractor from Travis through the Buy and Sell on here. I am making most of it from steel. Here is the raw material picture. More to follow over the weekend.

Took it out for a test run. Works good as long as traction is maintained.

I built it all steel, will have a belly link to hitch at rear yet. Did a test run in snow. Had traction trouble. Was very good with dog toys on the living room carpet...lol. I have a very understanding wife. Will be trying the saw dust to see how we'll that works when I get some picked up. Videos will come after paint and all is done. Thanks for the kind comments.

Fill the rear tires with BBs and glue the tires to the rims, will help with traction. Mounting the hitch to the back is also a great idea, like the 1:1s. Could you turn the lifting servo on it's side so it's not so obvious? I wonder if you could turn it on it's side and mount it under the plate it is sitting on now? Just thoughts.

In Canada many field tractors have an extra fuel tank added so the unit can work all day without coming back to the yard for fuel. When finished I am going to have it look like the extra tank. The traction problem is due to the full differentials in the transmission and both axels. Start to spin anywhere and it's gone. Looking at locking up the axels to help. Can't lock up the tranny as the differential is needed to have both axels working.

Ah, didn't realize you were going for the auxiliary fuel tank look.

Lol....no worries hard to tell at this point. Still lots of clean up and then paint.

Have you considered using "shoe goo" in your rear diff. to make it a limited slip?

We used to place thicker grease in differentials to make limited slip effect, curious how "shoe goo" type product would work. |
