I will put this out there for those looking at this thread and thinking about getting a set of these axles. If a stock truck is challenging for you to put together this is NOT the axle set for you. The rears are fairly simple and bolt right in place of the stock axles. Now you will need to use a thicker hex drive or shim the rim out from the supplied hex. You must use the stock shocks with the travel limiters in them if not the spring arch puts the axle pinions to close together and it will cause you problems unless you shorten the pinion shafts.
The front axle will bolt directly to a set of springs from the rear of a single axle truck or you can drill holes in the stock front springs. The front spring mount will need to be raised to the upper front cross member hole and the servo mount hole. You can see it in this pic. ![]() I just don't want some one to get a set of these and think they are going to just swap out the stock axles for these. Travis

Very interesting axles at a competitive price.
The only thing I don't like is the way the tie bar is mounted. The tie rod to the front screws up your steering geometry w/ the inner wheel having a wrong steering angle compared to the outer wheel. However.. your pictures suggest it is possible to mount the tie rod to the rear of the axle. Very nice find!! So we have a number of alternatives to Tamiya now.. Rc-channels axles (still my favorites..): Pro: very heavy and all metal internals, cons: only RWD, lockable via screw only.. Rigid-RC axles: Pro: nice looking, metal exterior, even lockable in the newest version!, cons: several parts of the differential are plastic. Most expensive of the three and only two bewel gears instead of three like Tam & rc-channel, so I wonder how durable these are.. Cheers Pip |

Travis,
Thank you for a very enlightening posting on this new product. Now, when I asked Integy more, I did get that they ~ARE~ manufactured overseas... so if we could contact the maker, perhaps we could pass along some ideas, yes? Anyone have ideas about whom this maker is? How about the chance of getting PMD as a supplier for the parts if Integy dislikes carrying the 1/14-1/16 scale stuff (or just replacement pieces)... they seemed to say their interest was more 1/10/1/12 scale for the multi-axle rigs... like that 8x8 monster. My thread http://www.rctruckandconstruction.co...ead.php?t=9565 puts forward the possibility of swapping parts from a Front C24519 and Mid C24521 axle to end up with a Rear C24522 axle, with the other axle-parts becoming a much-searched-for " steerable/driven axle " YES - its possible, but so far, only Travis has the parts in hand to see if its possible. I'm tempted to try it myself, but at $360 for JUST the axles (driveshafts extra), its not a lightly-made purchase. Anyone have the parts to try? Even if ya swap them back a few hours later, hm? Sorry fore dual-posting, but trying to spread the Good News!
Kyle at Integy has told me the axle parts ~ARE~ interchangeable... And no promises, but they ~may~ be able to give us a quantity-discount if we can organize a group buy of the #1 and #3 axle sets (2 each needed to to make the 8x8 chassis) SO... how do we spread the word to the guys/gals, and would Ric at PMD (or other distributors) be willing to 'stock-up' on a bunch of sets to help the process along?) Admin? Group e-mail notice perhaps? WhiteWolf - in for one set (all I can afford at the moment, would like 2, but ... *sigh*) |
