I am not sure if here is the place to ask.but i noticed some of your trucks have aluminum rear round fenders for each wheel.i have only seen the plastic ones sold. Who makes the aluminum sets?

You can make your own. Some one posted a tutorial either here or on the old Garden Trucking forum. Get a round piece of solid metal bar. I got a 3" and 4" diamiter slice off of ebay. They are about 5" long. Some of those ajustable muffler clamps, they have screws so you can tighten them. I used thin sheet aluminum sold at any auto parts,Lowes etc. Score the metal with a ice pick or screw driver. After you score it you can pop it on a counter edge like plastic. Figure out how deep you want the lip of the fenders. Plus how wide to cover dual wheels or say super single. Wrap the aluminum around the metal bar. Use the clamp to hold in place. I used 2 quarters stacked on each other to set the lip depth. Tighten the clamp and lightly hammer down your lip. The easier you go the less clean up you'll have after. When you have the whole lip down, sand and hammer till its flat. Unscrew the clamps. Sand with finer grade papers till smooth. Polish or paint. Ive used the Aeromax skirt supports to hold the fenders to the chassis. You can make them deep as you want and its not hard at all. Sorry for the long post but tried to include everything.

Man, that's a sweet looking truck, nenard.
I wrote the old tutorial on Garden Trucking, and on Scale 4x4. I haven't made a thread on this forum yet. http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/sho...&postcount=198

You're welcome guys. It is really easy to make your own fenders. Much easier then I ever thought it would be. Aluminum is very forgiving, and easy to work with. Trust me, there's nothing to it! Anyone can make these.

Espeefan have you come up with a way to mount these to your axles without hardware showing yet!? Gonna have to try making myself a set for my two tankers. Thanks a million for the tutorial, major help!

Loved Espeefan's tutorial so much, I made my own jig. I made small change to the original design by adding a small oversize lip at the bottom to act as a stopper, when hammering metal.
![]() Here are results of my "fender making" ![]() Made holding brackets out of brass ![]() Polished the fenders and attached to the brackets with Automotive goop.... It is stronger then it seems and no holes on the fenders. ![]() |

Nice work on those fenders, Jack! Good idea on adding a shoulder to the form, to keep the fender from sliding out of place. Your fenders look really nice. I like them.
